Post from Chris from Shooby about RBR

Those of you who know me probably know that there are three big comedy podcasts that I listen to: Nobody Likes Onions, Red Bar Radio, and The Biggs and Kyle Show.  Anyways, this post is about Red Bar Radio.

A few weeks ago, Mike D of Red Bar Radio began a little Myspace Top 8 contest.  Now, those of you who don't use MySpace, let me explain.  On MySpace, you have friends who are basically your contacts, and on your homepage, you can have a "top 8" friends list (though it can be more than that now, just look at my MySpace).  So Mike D decided to start a MySpace Top 8 contest and admitted he was copying Nobody Likes Onions.

The way this contest worked was that listeners would add the Red Bar Radio MySpace as a friend and then put it in their top 8.  In exchange for all this publicity, at a random date that has not been announced (in order to avoid cheaters), Mike D would pick one of the people who had Red Bar Radio in their top 8 and award them with an Archos Gmini 402 multimedia player/camcorder.

However, a couple days ago, I discovered that Mike D is not actually doing this.  On his eBay page, he had these players for sale (and they are now, officialy sold).  Now, I don't know if this is against the contract or agreement he had with Archos when he received these players to give away, but I think it is.

Man Mike D, f**k you you douche.  This guy blocked me on AIM for having the Biggs and Kyle Show alongside his own show on my top 16 on MySpace.

Anyways, here is the screenshot of him selling these Archos players on MySpace.

Now, I hope you guys realize that he will probably not be giving these players away on a count of the fact that the players have been sold.  Free publicity Mike?  Don't think so.

QotD: I wish I could...

Play any instrument or speak any language, which do you choose?
Question submitted by cruftbox.vox.com.

I think that I would rather speak any language. I never have been musically inclined, and even if I could play an instrument well, that doesn't mean I could write any good music. I'm probably a bit more biased towards to language given the fact that I like to write. In the end, I suppose that learning the language would be more useful in the long run, in that I'd be able to communicate with more people and expand my boundaries.

What was your favorite candy when you were a kid? How does that compare to now?

Digg Labs launches!

The Birds (In honor of Hitchcock)
The Birds (In honor of Hitchcock)

Well, Digg Labs launched today. I've been excited about this ever since they announced they were working on something better than Digg Spy, which I'm addicted to by the way. Digg Swarm and Stack were originally just called Digg Spy on Crack. At the Digg v3 launch party though, Kevin gave a demo of Digg Swarm and Digg Stack. Both of these were developed by the people over at Stamen. The two new services are a bit hard to explain. Basically, they are ways to interperate the stories and diggs that go through digg.com.

In Swarm, new stories are represented as bubbles that fly around the screen. When someone diggs a story, a color dot connects itself to the bubble story. The story's bubble grows in size as more diggers connect to it. Stack works differently, each story is represented as blocks. Diggers are also blocks.  When someone diggs a story, a block representing their digg falls down onto the story's block. The story block also changes color. Both of them are really cool, I suggest you check them out.

QotD: Back where I'm from...

First, I gotta thank Christ Fitzpatrick at chrisfitzpatrick.vox.com, the host of Tomorrow's Coffee at tomorrowscoffee.com for the Vox invite. I'll start off my blog by answering the QOTD.

Soda? Cola? Pop? What do you say? Any other regional words that set you apart?
Question submitted by Gladys.

When I was younger, I used to say Pop. I always kind of thought that Soda was cooler, being from Ohio, everyone else says Pop. I don't really know any other words that are different regionally besides all of the things from Australia and England. Fish 'n Chips an' all that.
